Nicaragua Customs Information – Hercules Worldwide

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Passport (all pages)
  • Residence visa
  • Proof of employment
  • Documents showing insurance coverage
  • Inventory listed in English or Spanish, include declared values for customs
    • Should also include brand name, serial number, model and price of all electronic equipment and electrical appliances
  • Original purchase invoice for all new items included in shipment, must be legalized by Consulate and attached to inventory
  • Authorization letter allowing destination agent to clear shipment
  • ALL DOCUMENTS ARE RQUIRED TO BE ORIGINALS AND COMPLETE. ANY DELAYS IN RESULT OF INCOMPLETE OR INCORRECT DOCUMENTS WILL BE CHARGED TO CUSTOMER.

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

  • YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUIRED IN NICARAGUA AT TIME OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
  • All personal effects and household goods subject to import taxes and duties
  • Allowed only 1 shipment, unless declared as partial shipment
  • All shipments inspected

RESTRICTED ITEMS/DUTIABLE

  • New items – require an original receipt

PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Explosives
  • Narcotics
  • Subversive or pornographic materials
  • Ammunition, weapons, animal or agricultural products, medicines, plants, and large quantities of liquor and food all require special permits.

MOTOR VEHICLES

  • Vehicles subject to duties and import taxes
    • Amount paid depends on vehicles value, model, year, cubic centimeters and extras
  • The following documents are required:
    • Registration card
    • Property title
    • Purchase invoice
