Australia Customs Information – Hercules Worldwide

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Completed Unaccompanied personal effects statement form #B534
  • Completed Authority to Act form
  • Copies of your passport ID page
  • Need purchase receipts or proof of value for all items that have been in ownership for less than 12 months.
  • In English, a descriptive inventory of goods.

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

  • All used household items will be allowed entry duty and tax free only if owned and used in prior country of origin for a period of 12 months or longer. All household items must be in appropriate quantities.
  • Automobiles and motor cycles are not considered household goods.

RESTRICTED AND DUTIBALE ITEMS

  • All items owned for less than a period of 12 months prior to entry are subject to tax and duty.
  • No restrictions on imports of tobacco and liquor, but these items have high levels of duty and tax.
  • Firearms are highly restricted; automatic weapons, hand guns and so on will require special permission to import. Other weapons such as collectors’ items, antique weapons and all firearms are subject to restrictions and to safety checks upon arriving. All firearms require authorization from the Police Authorities of the state in which you intend to reside or visit. Certain firearms are prohibited and can only be imported with the prior written approval of the Federal Attorney-General; these include but are not limited to: pump action shot guns, self loading rim rifles, and automatic firearms.
  • All raw or untreated timber and timber products will be subject to quarantine control.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Certain drugs are allowed entry into Australia, but they are subject to highly strict customs control. Other drugs, such as those of dependence must be declared upon import; these include but are not limited to: tranquilizers, barbiturates, amphetamines, hallucinogens, and narcotics.
  • Any goods made from animal products considered an endangered species are prohibited.
  • Specific types of weapons such as daggers, spring loaded knives, knuckle-dusters, swordsticks and unsafe firearms are prohibited.
  • Live animals and several animal products such as salami, tinned meat, eggs and dairy products are prohibited.
  • Prohibited plants and plant life include but are not limited to: soil, seeds, plants, timber with bark still attached, pine cones, dried floral arrangements and so on.
